GIBA 11th Annual General Meeting
GIBA held its 11th AGM in Kumasi at the Miklin Hotel on Thursday, June 8, 2017. Matters of concern in the industry were extensively discussed including mapping out the way forward for a stronger and better association. Some of the issues discussed bordered on payment of music user royalties and audience survey issues. As part of the meeting, elections were also held successfully in line with the requirements of the GIBA Constitution (Revised 2017) for an Executive Council to manage the affairs of the Association for the period 2017 – 2020.
Candidates for the various positions were:
President: Charles vanDyck (Multimedia Ghana Ltd.; Accra & Kumasi) and Andrew Danso-Aninkora (Kessben FM, Kumasi)
Vice President: Stephen Ato Eshun (Sky Broadcasting Ltd.; Accra, Kumasi, Obuasi & Mampong) and Ernest Boateng (Global Media Group; Accra, Kumasi & Takoradi)
Executive Council Member (Radio – 2 positions): Richard Osei Agyepong (Radio Gold, Accra), Matthew Martin Anderson (Aseda FM, Takoradi) and George Fausta Baffoe (Kantinka FM, Agona Swedru)
Executive Council Member (FTA): Prince Hari Crystal (Crystal Group)
Executive Council Member (Pay-TV): Cecil Sunkwa-Mills (GoTV)
Executive Council Member (Internet/Webcasting): Klaus vonBackustein (EIB Group; Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi & Koforidua) and Richmond Sey (Kwése TV)
