The National Media Commission (NMC) on Tuesday, 12th March, 2019 held a meeting with the Executive Council and Council of Elders of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA). This was in line with the Commission’s need to meet with its constituent bodies since the 9th Commission took office.
The purpose of the meeting was for the Commission to familiarize itself with the operations of GIBA and to discuss pertinent industry issues, aimed at helping them better relate to issues. Among the topics discussed were Ghana’s digital migration and issues of radio broadcasting.
The Chairman of the NMC, Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo who led the delegation from the NMC expressed gratitude to GIBA for quickly responding to their request for a meeting. He was confident that there would be more engagement between the two institutions, and the organization of sensitization programmes when needed.
GIBA assured the NMC of its readiness to collaborate with the NMC in regulation and other issues whenever the need would arise.
