Past Presidents
Alhaji Abdul Rashid is the owner of NAYAK Limited. He became President for the then Association of Private Broadcasting Companies (APBC) now Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) from 1996 to 2004. He is currently a member of the GIBA Council of Elders.
Fred Oware is a Ghanaian politician and the first Chief Executive Officer of Bui Power Authority, the administrative body of the Bui Dam which is Ghana’s third hydroelectric power generation plant and also the second largest. He has experience in the broadcasting, hospitality and printing industries. He has an extensive professional life which includes being an investment banker and a financial analyst. At a point he played outstanding roles in the establishment of a number of financial institutions such as Cal Bank, CDH Group, SDC Finance Limited and the Ghana Stock Exchange. He later entered politics and served as the 1st Vice National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party at a point. He has a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Administration, Finance & Accounting form the University of Ghana, Legon.
He is an entrepreneur and a former director of Choice FM. He served as the president of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) from 2004 to 2006 and is currently a member of the GIBA Council of Elders.
Kwasi Twum is the visionary, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Multimedia Group, Ghana’s largest independent commercial media group. He has led the fast-paced development of the business through the establishment of six (6) radio brands, a West Africa wide Multi Channel Digital Television Service and seven (7) online Digital Media properties as market leaders.
Mr. Twum had earlier revealed his entrepreneurial passion when he successfully launched his first business, Ridgecrest Services Limited just after graduating from the University and subsequently became the Executive Chairman.
Mr. Twum serves on the board of directors of SUNU Assurances Ghana Limited and is a fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Africa Leadership Initiative. He is also a member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Additionally, he served as a former executive council member of the Ghana Employers’ Association, a former board member of SOS Children’s Villages – Ghana, and the President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters’ Association (GIBA) from 2006 to 2008. He currently is a member of the GIBA Council of Elders. He received a commendation from the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in 2010 for his role in the expansion of the media. Since 2008, Price Waterhouse Coopers has continuously selected Kwasi as one of the top 10 CEOs in Ghana. In 2012, he was named the sixth most respected CEO in the nation.
Kwasi Twum holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School and an old boy of Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast.
Alhaji Alhassan Haruna is a United Kingdom trained and practiced Chartered Accountant. He holds a degree from South West London College (now South Bank University) where he studied professional Accounting ACCA. He attended Deutsche Welle Akademie in Berlin, Germany and Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh where he attained a Masters in Business Administration and certificates in Economics, International Trade and Finance.
He worked as the Finance Officer of the University for Development Studies (UDS) for 3 years before joining the media. He subsequently worked in the media for twelve (12) years first at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation as the Financial Director, and later at the Metropolitan Entertainment Television (Metro TV). He served as the President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association from 2008 to 2010 during which period he represented GIBA as a Commissioner of the National Media Commission. He is currently a member of the GIBA Council of Elders.
Currently, he is the Chief Executive Officer of GDH Management Services and Group Board Chairman, MUDI Group of Companies.
Chief Paul. A. Crystal-Djirackor is the President/CEO, Crystal TV and the Founder/President, Mega-Choice Digital Network. He served as President of Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) from 2011 to 2013 during which period he served as a Member/Commissioner and as GIBA’s representative on the National Media Commission. He is the Chairman for Communications and a member of the National Digital Broadcasting Migration Committee (NDBMC) and the chairman of the GIBA Council of Elders.
Dr. Chief P.A. Crystal-Djirackor is a broadcaster par excellence. He has vast knowledge about the broadcast industry. He is a seasoned Electronic Engineer who majored in broadcast systems design and engineering. A journalist, with a penchant for broadcasting, who was involved in the setup of a number of broadcasting operations across Africa, including CRYSTAL TV-Ghana’s First Private Television Station.
He was involved in putting together, regulations, standards and policies to guide many African states in their quest to open up their airwaves in the early 1990s, allowing participation of the independent media in those countries. He made himself available for the design of Ghana’s spectrum bank of the then Frequency Registration and Controls Board (FCRB) to aid in the liberalization of the nation’s airwaves in 1995. He has been in the satellite and broadcasting business for over 42 years. Dr. Chief Crystal-Djirackor also serves in various membership capacities on boards and committees to see to the growth of the broadcast industry here in Ghana and abroad.
Akwasi Agyeman is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority. He has many years of practice in Project Management, Public Relations, Crisis Communications, Media Relations and Banking and was formerly the Director of Global Media Alliance.
He has vast knowledge in Business and Organizational Management, especially in the private sector. He holds a Masters in Business Administration and Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Social Sciences from the University of Ghana, and a Masters in Business Administration in Marketing and Information Systems, from the Tulane University in Louisiana, U.S.A.
He was inducted President of GIBA from 2014 to 2017 and served as a board member of the Graphic Communications Group Limited and Silverbird Entertainment Ghana Limited.
Andrew Danso-Annikora is the General Manager of Kessben Media Group He served as President of GIBA from 2017 to 2020. Andrew Danso-Aninkora was an Executive Council Member of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association from 2014 to 2017. He is an experienced Business Manager with about 20 years of managerial responsibilities mostly in business development, business growth and strategic management. Andrew is very conversant with civil service procedures and processes having worked for 4 years in the Ghana Civil Service.
He holds a French Diploma in Commerce from Alliance Francaise, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management and a Certificate in Marketing and Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. He is currently the President of the Board of Directors of Alliance Francaise, Kumasi – Ghana, and has served as a Board Member of the Achiase Secondary School, Kumasi – Ghana. He also served as a Trade Missions Member of the Regional Coordinating Council of the Ashanti Region and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
