Regional Coordinator Elections held for the 3 Northern Regions

The Executive Council of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) led by the President, Andrew Danso-Aninkora of Kessben FM on Thursday, March 1, 2018 met with its members in the Northern, Upper West and Upper East regions to elect a Regional Coordinator and a Deputy to coordinate the activities of the association in the three Northern regions at the Nim Avenue Hotel in Tamale.

Ibrahim Musah Kessie, CEO of Kesmi FM in Tamale was nominated alongside Janet Boakye of Fiila FM, also in Tamale. Janet Boakye thanked Members for nominating her but stated that she would rather throw her support behind Mr. Kessie in the carrying out of his duties as Regional Coordinator. Mr. Kessie who hitherto had been the Acting Regional Coordinator therefore stood unopposed as the substantive Northern Regional Coordinator and was unanimously acclaimed in the position. In his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude to the members of the Association for the confidence reposed in him and promised to ensure that all GIBA members within the three regions of the north would be in good standing in no time as well as endeavor to grow the numbers of the association. Abubakar Mumin, Board Secretary of Eagle FM in Walewale was also unanimously elected as the Deputy Northern Regional Coordinator.

Both officers pledged to work together to ensure the growth of the Association while ensuring that belonging GIBA would be attractive while fighting for the collective interest of all.

The President, Mr. Andrew Danso Anninkora, thanked all present for a good meeting and encouraged all members to do their best to be in the good books of regulatory authorities.
