In 2006, Ghana, along with other members of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), signed an agreement in Geneva that set June 17, 2015 as the deadline for all countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Russia to migrate from analogue to digital terrestrial television (DTT) broadcasting technology within the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Band.
GIBA as a critical stakeholder, has been actively involved in several stakeholder consultations even before Ghana took the decision to migrate from Analogue to Digital broadcasting. As the only recognized representative body of private broadcasters in Ghana, GIBA believes that in order to effectively carry out its mandate as the fourth estate of the realm, there is the need to educate and inform Ghanaians and all stakeholders on the implications of the digital migration process, its effect on their lives and the dividends inherent. This mandate is buttressed by the Hero Cup decision which states that “the right to freedom of speech and expression also includes the right to be educated, informed and entertained”.
The Dialogue seeks to bring together experts in the field of information technology, artificial intelligence, intellectual property rights, content creation and marketing among others while creating a platform for knowledge sharing, innovative thinking and policy shaping.
We look forward to seeing you.
